About the Event:

PhotoThe third annual Little Legs, Big Hearts will take place on October 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. It will be held at UCLA DRAKE STADIUM. Little Legs, Big Hearts is a ¼ mile run/walk for children between the ages of one and eight years old to aid children afflicted with sickle cell disease. Your child does not need to have the sickle cell disease to participate. See this news clip for details -- Quicktime, 1Mb)

This is an event founded by B-Dads based on the idea that every child (with the support of family and friends) has the ability to effect change in their community and in the lives of others.

Each participant is encouraged to download a registration and pledge form and solicit donations from as many sponsors as possible (Hint: Hit up family and friends.) There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies awarded to the participants who raise the most money. There is a $20.00 minimum donation required per child to participate. There is no entrance fee for parents and other family members, so bring the whole family and enjoy free refreshments.

Proceeds will benefit The Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California (information about sickle cell disease is here). Twenty percent of the proceeds will further aid B-Dads relief efforts and community outreach. B-Dads is strictly a volunteer organization. None of our members receive a salary.

For children who may have difficulty completing the run/walk on their own, parents are encouraged to accompany their child and even pick them up. Participants are asked to arrive at 10:00 a.m. for registration. There will be a special gift bag and free parking provided for the first 150 participants. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

This is an amazing event for the entire family. Remember kids, you're never too young to make a difference.
